The first skyscraper of Brazil

The A Noite building is a landmark for Brazilian architecture. It is located in Mauá square, the old port of Rio de Janeiro, downtown.

Built in 1929, it was the first skyscraper in Latin America. Throughout the works, the technique of reinforced concrete, hitherto unprecedented in the country, was carried out.

The building housed the famous Rádio Nacional and also served as the headquarters for the newspaper A Noite, a name that remains today.

It is currently closed in a state of disrepair. Recently there was an auction but with no minimum bid.
