Santos Dumont Airport
Santos Dumont Airport was the first civilian airport in Brazil. It is in the center of Rio, on the banks of Guanabara Bay.
It has intense movement and provides one of the most beautiful landings in the world. When carrying out the maneuvers for landing, the planes offer a panoramic view to some of the main tourist spots in Rio de Janeiro such as the Cristo Redentor and the Pão de Açúcar Mountain.
A few years ago, Santos Dumont Airport won a tram line that runs through the city center. A shopping center was also built next to the airport.
Its name is in honor of Alberto Santos Dumont, father of aviation.
