THE LAST SANDBANK AREA PRESERVED IN BARRA DA TIJUCA

Marapendi Park is the last preserved area between the neighborhoods of Barra da Tijuca and Recreio dos Bandeirantes in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro.

The ecological reserve has native forest and a large lagoon, a refuge for several birds and alligators.
The park's headquarters offers trails and leisure areas overlooking Marapendi Lagoon. It has free entry.
