1. Urca

Urca is a picturesque neighborhood in the South Zone of the city located near the Copacabana neighborhood. Although most visitors go straight to the famous Sugar Loaf cable car, the neighborhood has pleasant places such as the edge marked by a wall from where it is possible to admire the landscape and watch the beautiful sunset.


2. Tijuca Forest

Tijuca Forest is the main sector of Tijica National Park. It offers places for picnics, natural pools, waterfalls and beautiful viewpoints. It is located in the Alto da Boa Vista neighborhood.

The park is well signposted and the trails well structured. Pay attention to the rules exposed on the information boards.


3. Paço Imperial

Paço Imperial is a cultural center located in Praça XV, one of the main squares in the historic center of Rio de Janeiro. It has free admission and fixed and traveling exhibitions.

The building built in the 18th century was the first residence of the Portuguese royal family when they fled to Brazil. The place was the scene of historical moments such as the signing of the Lei Áurea that ended slavery in Brazil.


4. Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon

Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon is in the heart of the South Zone, close to neighborhoods such as Leblon, Ipanema and Copacabana.

With 7 kilometers of waterfront, it has leisure spaces, restaurants, picnic areas, decks overlooking the landscape and sports spaces.

This is a good option for a walk after lunch and enjoy a mild climate walking through one of the most beautiful places in the city.


5. Parque Lage

Parque Lage is a public park located in the Jardim Botânico neighborhood, in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro.

The park has an old building that houses an arts school. It draws attention for having a swimming pool overlooking the statue of Christ the Redeemer. Even the location was the scene of the video by Snoop Dogg and Pharrell Williams.

Parque Lage also has beautiful gardens, lakes, artificial caves and a picnic area.

Pedra Branca State Park - The largest urban forest in the world.

 The Pedra Branca State Park is in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro and encompasses eleven neighborhoods in the city. The park is considered one of the largest urban forests in the world. There are trails of all levels that lead to beautiful viewpoints, waterfalls, natural pools, a lake and even wild beaches. The park suffers from abandonment, as the number that takes care of security is very low compared to the size of the area. The forest suffers from the advance of irregular constructions and the action of hunters, which ends up making it difficult to observe the local fauna. Pedra Branca State Park is the highest point in the city at 1025 meters high, but its view is limited due to the vegetation that surrounds the place.
