The First Public Square in Brazil

Passeio Público is a park located near Lapa, a famous bohemian region in the downtown Rio de Janeiro.

It was built in the 18th century in the same place where there was a lagoon. Initially, the park was intended for high society and access was restricted.

The Passeio Público has beautiful tree-lined paths, gardens, a lake and a fountain from the time of its opening. Access is free.
