Imperial Park, Quinta da Boa Vista

Quinta da Boa Vista is a park located in the neighborhood of São Cristóvão, North Zone of Rio de Janeiro city. It houses the National Museum of Natural History, one of the oldest in the world. The site also houses a biopark, the city's former zoo.

The park's history began at the time of the Portuguese empire. Quinta da Boa Vista was the residence of the royal family at the time.

For its beautiful roads, gardens with leafy trees, lakes and streams give a bucolic touch to the park. Due to its location next to the train and subway station, it is used by people as a gateway to other areas of the neighborhood.

Unfortunately, in 2018 the National Museum of Natural History caught fire due to years of neglect with its maintenance. Even today, the reconstruction works are proceeding slowly, leaving a future of uncertainty.
