Neighborhoods of Rio: Lapa, a bohemian district

 Lapa is a famous neighborhood in Rio located in the central region of the city. It is home to famous tourist spots such as Arcos da Lapa, an old aqueduct that currently serves as a viaduct for the tram that connects the Santa Teresa neighborhood to the city center.

In the neighborhood is also the Escadaria Selarón, a staircase that had its steps covered with tiles, work of the late artist Jorge Selarón. Still in the neighborhood are two cultural spaces that are also among the main venues in the city. Circo Voador and Fundição Progresso.

Lapa is famous for concentrating a large number of bars and restaurants making it one of the most sought after spots for nighttime leisure.
