Barra da Tijuca: The Miami of Rio

Barra da Tijuca is a new neighborhood compared to the main neighborhoods in the city of Rio de Janeiro. It is in the West Zone of the city and is marked by having the longest beach in the city.

The occupation process intensified in the 1990s when large condominiums were built on its edge and close to Avenida das Américas.

It has a profile that resembles the city of Miami and many joke that Barra is the Miami of Rio de Janeiro.

The characteristics between the two are many, the great avenue cutting the neighborhood, the shopping malls, the residential condominiums written in English and the lagoons and the beach that has a certain resemblance to the famous North American city.

Due to disorderly occupation and the consequent high number of residents, Barra da Tijuca suffers from traffic that at certain times makes it impossible to move around the neighborhood.
