A FOUNTAIN OF OVER 200 YEARS

This old fountain is known as the Mestre Valentim Fountain, in homage to the artist who built it in the 18th century. The monument is located in Praça XV, one of the main squares in the historic center of Rio de Janeiro. At the time of its construction, it had the function of supplying the vessels that docked at the pier that was next to the construction. With the landfills carried out in the region, the sea was further away from the fountain, which today is almost in the center of the square. Unfortunately it is empty and without the lighting that was part of the construction.

PRAIA DO INFERNO, A HEAVEN OF THE CITY

Image
Praia do Inferno is a wild beach located in the neighborhood of Grumari, West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. In English its name is hell beach, due to the rough sea that attracts some surfers to the place. Access to this paradise is via a moderate-level trail, without signage. The accompaniment of a tour guide is essential. It is worth remembering that a wild beach has its vegetation preserved and there is no lifeguard station or bathroom on it. All waste produced must be brought back and disposed of in a bin.
