Wild Beaches in Rio
That the beaches of Rio de Janeiro are famous around the world, we already know, but what many don't know is that the city has four wild beaches.
These paradises are hidden in the West Zone of the city, in a large area of preserved forest. Access is via a moderate level trail with an average duration of forty minutes depending on the chosen beach. The trail starts in the Barra de Guaratiba neighborhood.

Perigoso Beach
Perigoso Beach is a small beach located in a sort of cove at the foot of Pedra da Tartaruga, a rock formation shaped like a turtle.
However, be careful the current in some points is strong and there is no lifeguard station.
Meio Beach
Meio Beach is located between Praia do Perigoso and Praia Funda. It has rough seas and a long stretch of sand.
Funda Beach
Funda Beach is right after Praia do Meio and the access trail starts on the rocks on the left corner of Praia do Meio.
It has a good extension of sand and calm sea depending on the season.
Inferno Beach
Inferno Beach is a small stretch of sand located right after Funda Beach. Its sea is very rough with waves hitting the rocks.
These four beaches are in an ecological area, respect the regulations. Never leave litter along the way, do not feed wild animals and do not touch these animals.
On the beaches there is no structure such as a bathroom or a place to buy water and food. Before visiting the area, seek information and hire a qualified professional.
